摘要:Gypsum is a typical healthful, eco-type and energy-saving material. However, because of poor water resistance, its applications were limited. To improve the water resistance of gypsum building materials, herein, we use a facile and low cost fabrication method via ultrasonic vortex oscillation reaction after mixing octadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS) with 1,2-dichloroethane to prepare hydrophobic coating. We show that water drop can be stable on its surface and reach the highest contact angle 144.70±1.1°, the softening coefficient is 0.92, the water absorption is reduced to 1.1%. The morphologies and chemical composition were characterized by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FI-IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). In addition, the wear resistance of hydrophobic surface were assessed by the rubbing with 600 mesh sandpaper for 12 times (20 cm each time) under the pressure of 4.4 KPa, the surface still has hydrophobicity. Such a hydrophobic coating shows promising potential as large-scale gypsum product protection. ? 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.
