摘要：维·苏·奈保尔是当代著名印度裔英籍作家,其作品集《在自由的国度》曾获英国1971年布克奖。在与该作品集同名的小说中,奈保尔既批判了前殖民者对被殖民国家的人民的压迫以及殖民国家在其殖民地推行的文化霸权政策,也讽刺了前殖民地人民对宗主国的模仿,对同胞的冷漠以及自身的残暴。作者的这种双重批判的态度与他的混合文化身份是密切相关的。
Vidiadhar Surajprasad Naipaul is a famous Indo-Trinidadian-British writer whose novel "In a Free State" won the Booker Prize for 1971.In the story "In a Free State",Naipaul criticized the oppression of the Africans by the colonists and the cultural hegemonism toward the Third World of western countries.Meanwhile Naipaul also satirized the indifference and cruelty of the Africans.Naipaul's attitude of double critique toward both colonists and the colonized has something to do with his special Indo-Trinidadian-British identity.
