摘要:Building gypsum is easily affected by moisture, which leads to the decline of the performance of gypsum building materials. In this study, hydrophobic pretreatment of building gypsum by peat soil (PS) was developed by a one-step process. X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), elemental analysis and phase analysis were used to study the hydrophobic characteristics of the gypsum whereas compressive/flexural strength were measured to determine mechanical and durability attributes. After heating beta-hemihydrate phosphogypsum (β-HPG) with 6 wt% of PS at 135°C for 6 h, the samples showed severely hydrophobicity, and the water drop penetration time (WDPT) on the powder surface was 2675 s; after casting, the compressive/flexural strength of the specimens were merely 4% and 7% lower than control group, respectively. The purpose of this work is to solve the problem that building gypsum is prone to moisture and provide guarantee for the performance of gypsum building materials. ? 2022, The Authors.
